Description
Mount Moses, also known as Mount Sinai, is a place associated with
the biblical Mount Horeb, where Moses received the Ten Commandments. It
the highest peak in Egypt, offering unforgettable views that you would not like to
you will find on the beaches.
We start the ascent to the top at night, with the local highlanders from the tribe
Gebelaya. The take-off altitude is over 1500 m above sea level. 6 km await us
walk among the stars and beautiful views, including the sunrise.
The most difficult section is the 750 “penitential stairs” before the summit. You can
use the “Camel Path”, but the last part must be overcome
on foot.
At the foot of Mount Moses is the Monastery of St. Catherine, the oldest active
a monastery in Egypt, operating since the sixth century. You can see the Burning
A bush, the Well of Moses and valuable iconographic collections.
This expedition is not only a physical challenge, but also a spiritual journey to
a place deeply rooted in the biblical tradition.
